"american dream" 21 Savage: Album Review

21 Savage has released his third studio album, "american dream." This is the soundtrack to his biopic "American Dream: The 21 Savage Story." This album is loaded with features such as Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Doja Cat, and so much more. Here I review each track and give my overall rating. Bolded means my favorite track.

  1. "american dream" Intro

  2. "all of me" 8.5/10 Rose Royce sample.

  3. "redrum" 7.5/10

  4. "n.h.i.e" feat Doja Cat 7.5/10

  5. "Sneaky" is a simple dark melodic trap 7/10

  6. "pop ur shit" feat Young Thug" It smell like gas, I think somebody pooped (Slime, yeah)" 7.5/10?

  7. "letter to my brudda" 8/10 expressive track of his life.

  8. "dangerous" feat Lil Durk, Metro Boomin. 7.5/10

  9. "née-nah" feat Travis Scott, Metro Boomin. 8/10

  10. "see the real" 7.5/10

  11. "prove it" feat Summer Walker 8.5/10

  12. "should've wore a bonnet" feat Brent Faiyaz 8/10

  13. "just like me" with Burna Boy, Metro Boomin 8/10

  14. "red sky" anthem-type beat

  15. "dark days" with Mariah the Scientist. 8/10 an amazing outro

Overall rating 8.7/10

"american dream" still offers that dark and laidback rapping that 21 Savage harnesses, but it reflects on 21 Savage's life and his upcoming through his struggles. He also takes a different approach in the track "prove it" with Summer Walker, where he writes his love for a woman. The first half album takes that dark trap vibe, and the 2nd half has an R&B/Trap-loving vibe.

"dark days" with Mariah the Scientist is another amazing track, in which 21 Savage advises his listeners to stay away from street life. He also states that no matter how "gangster" he is, he still thought about suicide and crying when nobody is looking around. This is a perfect example of how to end an album.

"american dream" proves that 21 Savage has developed as an artist and that he isn't someone that you can't put to the side. "red sky" supports this claim, (this track is so good) as he raps "Cause Savage don't diss." There isn't a single skip on the album, to be honest, and the features were fantastic. However, I was surprised that Drake wasn't on it. That surely would've been the cherry on top. In conclusion, "american dream" has set 2024 in the right place for music.
