Today, I'm gonna talk about The Marías' EP "Superclean Vol 1," just give my thoughts on it, because I've been listening to them recently, and they also just released a couple of new singles, so I think right now it's a great time to talk about them. This is just an EP, not an album, so keep that in mind. My rating is not gonna be Album Ranking, I want to do something different for ranking EPs, but for now, I'll stick to the simple 10/10 ranking system, along with the songs.
As always, bolded means my favorite song/track.
"I Don't Know You" 7.8/10
"Basta Ya" 8.5/10
"I Like it" (funky bass, disco vibes) 6.7/10
"Only in My Dreams" 6.2/10 (Calm, but also eerie vibes).
"Superclean" 7.8/10
"Déjate Llevar" 8/10 (Fun summer vibes)
Overall Review: 7.8/10
This is a solid debut EP. Its overall aesthetic is super jazzy and maintains those bedroom vibes. María Zardoya's voice is super calming and unique—it is one of a kind. One of my favorite tracks is "Basta Ya." There is so much emotion, and the horns/brass section complements the chorus so well that it makes me want to cry. "I Don't Know You" also has a lovely bass and guitar riff, along with a simple, catchy chorus. The thing about this EP is that every song has a different emotion, but somehow also maintains that Indie Pop/Alternative vibe that I love looking for. Super short EP, and I think that's why they made a Vol 2. The "Superclean" vols could be one big EP or just an album. But on their albums, I know that they do more psychedelic and experimental things. (Which I'll review later as well.) There's nothing negative I have about this EP. "Only in My Dreams" is my least favorite track, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's emotional and sad, but also has this eerie chord/note or aesthetic that I can't explain, which is why I rated it low, but again, not a bad track. Overall, I'll give this EP an amazing 7.8/10.
