"KIDS SEE GHOSTS" Album Review

Kid Cudi's upcoming Album "INSANO" is coming this week so I decided to review one of his most well-received projects, "KIDS SEE GHOSTS," along with Kanye West. The album was released in 2018, on June 8 (5 years). Bolded means my favorite track. I also plan to review Kid Cudi's "Man on the Moon" trilogy.

  1. "Feel The Love" 7/10

  2. "Fire" 7.5/10

  3. "4th Dimension" 8.5/10

  4. "Freeee (Ghost Town Pt.2)" 7.5/10

  5. "Reborn" 8/10 ("Pursuit of Happiness" Vibes)

  6. "Kids See Ghost" 7.5/10

  7. "Cudi Montage"

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

"KIDS SEE GHOST" is an album/EP that revolves around the artists' struggles, anxieties, and mental health—especially Kid Cudi, who has experienced drug and substance abuse. Fortunately, Kid Cudi went to therapy The track "Freee" explores this idea of being out of this dark place.

Lyrics:

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Feelin' I'm out of my past life

Died and came back twice

Now I'm free"

"Reborn" and "Cudi Montage" also reflect on being new people and growing out of their old selves.

Production-wise, it offers some bright/distorted and fuzzy synths, with obvious hip-hop and psychedelic/rock elements. "4th Dimension" samples and features Louis Prima, and is one of my favorite tracks off "KIDS SEE GHOST."

In conclusion, "KIDS SEE GHOST" explores deep topics such as depression and struggles that each of the two artists faced in their lives. It's a shame that Kid Cudi and Kanye West aren't friends anymore, both are amazing artists who have influenced the sound of music and hip hop.
