Overall Rating 7.9/10

"INSANO" dives more deep into a dark melodic trap production. For me, most of the songs blend into each other. The writing mostly feels like frat rap, and choruses have that filter or distorted effect, such as "Most ain't Dennis" and "CUD LIFE." This album is close to bloated, which could be a me thing, but I feel like having an album with over 19 songs is way too much, especially since they sound the same. It was up to track 9, "TOO DAMN HIGH" the sound changes, having more bubbly synths and keys to it.

However, there are some gems in this. "OFTEN I HAVE THESE DREAMZ" was a great intro, and the production for it was neat. "BLUE SKY" goes back to that Kid Cudi sound, the sound he's known for, and "HIT THE STREETZ IN MY NIKES" is another gem of this album, and has to be the best song on the album. The worst song has to be either "MR.COOLA" or "AT THE PARTY." "MR COOLA," I think has Travis' vocals from "FIEN" which is in a beat with the song. Though it feels like Travis Scott couldn't make it to the studio, so Kid Cudi just added Travis Scott's vocals, but again it could be me. "AT THE PARTY"'s hypnotized production didn't vibe with me too well.

"TORTURED" is another favorite of mine track that opens up about Cudi's struggles against substance and drug abuse, and that he will continue to fight these demons. "FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE" is one track that stood out to me. It was so unique and was refreshing to hear. I do hope Kid Cudi will make more songs like these in the future, which hopefully will be in the Deluxe.

In conclusion, "INSANO" was an album that felt to appeal to the mainstream trap audience, instead of going deep into what he wanted to do. but still a swell album with gems that will make your playlist.
